Many of us choose Honda (and some Toyota) because we've heard how reliable they are and what high quality vehicles these companies make.
Well, Honda have let me down and I want people to be aware of the problems Honda have with their transmissions on certain vehicles.
In fact, there is a website regarding the class action lawsuit ("settlement") that resulted from Honda making an attempt to meet their customers part way. At this URL you can check the VIN on your vehicle to see if it's part of the lawsuit.
I urge you to do that quickly, so that you don't end up like me...
I don't beat my vehicles to death with excessive mileage and thus at only 106,200 miles my vehicle is 8 years and 8 months young, or so I thought.
If you read the details of the "settlement" you'll see that even if your vehicle hasn't reached the relevant mileage limit of 109,000 miles, if it is more than 7 years and 9 months old, you're not likely to have the approx $4000 repair bill for the bad transmission covered for you by American Honda.
More later...

To give Honda some credit, they did, after me pushing very hard and very long, agree to pay just over half of the $3900 bill for my replacement transmission on my 2000 Odyssey
In my ITIL Service Management classes I always teach that complacency is the enemy of quality.
How sad it is that my fears, expressed over the last four years, have come true.
I used to predict that the day would come when the Japanese would become complacent.
Shame on you Toyota !!
